Cushion Flower fairy

I finished off this sweet fairy cushion today. It's made with linen and a mix of cotton and vintage fabrics. It's decorated with applique and hand embroidery.

Tooth fairy pillow

Yeah Lulu has a wobbly tooth. Her first one. I made this little tooth fairy pillow in anticipation of the event! She is very excited about it!

The cushion is made with antique linen, trim, applique and embroidery. On the back I appliqued a felt tooth pocket.

Blue toile covered notebook

I covered this A5 notebook with antique linen which I embellished with some lovely toile, cross stitch, applique, embroidery, trim and buttons. The cross stitch papttern came from my gorgeous French book called 'Liberty et point de croix' by Helene Le Berre. The cover can be removed so it can be washed. These notebooks are great to use as journals, ideas books or even as recipe books. I'm making one for myself in which I intend to write recipes I've collected which are flying around on pieces of paper.

All about hearts pouch

Yesterday I finished off this project. I've been ill all week and totally frustrated i couldn't do anything! As I mentioned in a previous post I've been following some lessons I purchased from Jude Hill. Very inspirational! To practice I decided to make a nine patch of hearts similar to one she has done. I love the different techniques she uses. I wove different antique linens together then I used her 'invisible basting' method to hold them in place. As Jude says once you've done this you can have several layers of fabric together which then behave as one. The I chose my diferent fabrics for the hearts and in some squares I added a different fabric for the background. So much fun. Then all that was left to do was embellish with stitches!! I've decided to send this little pouch to mum I think she will really love it. She loves to have things to keep pieces of her sewing projects in, so this can be added to her collection. I may have to make one for myself to and I can't wait to find the time to develop my own things with her techniques.

Antique linen bird applique photo album

This lovely photoalbum is almost exclusively made with antique linens and trims. It would make for a gorgeous bridal or baby shower gift. A great little album to carry around to show off one's favourite photos. The cover is removeable so it can be washed! Going on Etsy

A Day In The Country- Block of the Month

I recently saw this quilt by Sue Ross in Homespun magazine and on the Cottage Quiltworks website and thought that I might like to do this block-of-the-month. So I went out to the shop on Saturday and signed up. I got my first block which is the house block in the center and next month they are going to send me the next two. I am looking forward to making it. I really like the colours and think that I will add my own touch to the quilt by adding extra embellishments. It looks like lots of fun! Stay tuned as I will blog each block as I get them done. It might take a while as I am still in the progress of doing my Sue Spargo Magnolia quilt.

I made this pretty cushion yesterday. It's so pretty with antique linen , vintage fabrics, embroidery and applique. Hadn't made one of these for a while and I'd forgotten how much fun they are to make! Available on Etsy.

Animals on Safari messenger nappy bag

Finally I have finished a couple of messenger/nappy bags for my shop! Here's the first one 'Animals on Safari'. I love this theme, I'm planning to make some cushions too and if I ever find the time I may make it with girlie colours! This messenger bag is made with antique linen hemp and cotton fabrics it has 3 internal pockets. These bags are great to carry books, toys and so on. As mentioned it could even be adapted as a nappy bag for mum to use!

Above are 2 i phone/cell phone pouches made with patchwork using linens and cottons. I then appliqued with wool felt and hand embroidered. I was totally inspired by Japanese style here!

Pouch with hand embroidered bird

For this pouch I used vintage fabric and trim. I embroidered on antique linen. The pouch is lined with a pretty pink stripe.

Antique lien pouch with blue French toile

I used two fo my most favourite fabrics for this pouch - antique handwoven linen and French toile. The pouch is lined with toile too. Very pretty!

Cute little zip pouches

I made these cute little pouches today. I really love these and plan to make some more. They are made with lovely cotton fabrics with a zip closure.

Linen i pad sleeve

I made this linen i pad sleeve today. I appliqued some antique trim amd antique linen which I monogrammed with an 'I'. These are great to carry an i pad around or any other electronical device of the correct dimensions. I must this pouch could also be used for other purposes such as keeping jewellery, lingerie, hair accessories and so on. It's really multifunctional!

Animals on Safari cot quilt

I made this quilt this week. It's my own design and I really enjoyed making it. It combines applique, hand embroidery and hand quilting techniques all in one. I also wrote a pattern for it which I will be selling in my shop. It was fun and easy to make and could easily be made in girlie colours too. I am now thinking Cushions so that may be my next task. Really it's amazing from this one item I am now thinking of all the things that could go along with it! I find there's really not a lot out there for the boys so it's fun to create for them too!

Jude Hill

I just love Jude Hills work. So I came across her blog the other day Spirit Cloth and from there visited her shop. She has some E-lessons there which you watch online and she really takes you through her thought processes. I bought her whispering hearts series and am thoroughly enjoying it. It's always so inspiring to learn from people who are completely different to you. I have picked up all kinds of methods and tips from her. She uses a lot of hand dyed fabrics, scraps and so on. I have loads of antique linen left overs so it's a great excercise for me.

The other day I was cutting pieces for a quilt for a boy and i found myself cutting little hearts from the scraps and putting them to one side. Then i started playing around with them and made this lovely unique Cell phone/i-pod/i-phone pouch. It's really delicate and pretty. I used some antique linen, French linen and lace all layered on top of each other and then embroidered.

Zakka Style

Well it's time to tell you my exciting news - one of my projects has been featured in this new wonderful book 'Zakka Style'. Fabulous Rashida Coleman (Iheartlinen) has organised this great book with a whole collection of talented artists. I just can't believe that one of my projects has been included in this group. The book is being published by Stash books and is due out in December 2011. I can't wait to see it and I definitely love and want to make the fab baskets on the cover! I'm still pinching myself!!

Wall organiser linen pink and yellow

I finished this wall organiser the other day. I used a lovely linen for the background, the pockets are made with different antique linen/hemps and cotton fabrics. Here and there I appliqued some pretty fabrics and trim and did some simple embroidery. The wall organiser has been padded and then I have quilted it here and there. For a final touch I appliqued simple felt flowers.


The wall organiser can be used for anything whether it be for newborn items, like nappies, creams, wipes, cotton wool etc, or it can be used for toys, stationery, hair accessories and so on.
