Hide and Seek Market #2

We had our second Hide and Seek market on Sunday. Mum did well and outsold me for the first time which was good for her. We were under a bit of pressure as we did really well two weeks earlier at Mathilda's Markets and almost sold out of stock so between working and looking after kids there was a lot of sewing that had to get done. Mum did heaps of new pretty things. I didn't get as much done. We are now taking a break for a month to get some more stock done. We are intending on starting our Christmas stuff which we will have at markets starting in October. Our next market will be Billycarts on Saturday 25th September so we hope to see you there. There are more photos of some of our products on Flickr.

Please help make a difference for young Homeless Kids

Dear friends,

Please check out my fundraising page. My son and I are trying to raise money for young homeless people in Sydney by raising $1,000 for Oasis (The Salvation Army) through our participation in the Sydney Bridge Run. You can click on the link about and easily donate using a debit/credit card.

We would greatly appreciate any donations. Together we can make a difference.

Thank you for your help!

Pretty bird and flower necklace

Today I made this pretty little girl necklace. I've been thinking about these types of things for a while and finally got round to making one. I used a pretty pink cord with beads and felt decorations which I made myself. The felt bird pendant is hand sewn and embroidered and all the felt flowers were also hand cut and made. All felt pieces have been hand sewn on and then glued for extra strength. Now that I'm over the mental hurdle of making the first one I'll be onto more!! I'm just waiting for some supplies to arrive and then production will be in full swing!

Halloween headbands

Well I haven't disappeared just enjoying holidays with my daughter husband and brother and occassionally making something! The other day at our favourite beach I took my design/ideas notebook and wrote down my ideas and did some drawings. I have made quite a few goodies and have many more ideas so now I can start posting them.

First of all I wanted to create something pretty for Halloween, if that's at all possible! I did a few drawing and here are my first products. Headbands, my nearly 5 year old loves them so that's a good sign. I wrapped the headbands with satin bias tape and then made a pretty felt/fabric embellishment finished off with hand embroidery and trims. More images on flickr. I will place all Halloween goodies in my store towards the end of August in good time to arrive before 31st October.

Heart and flower head bands

I bought some plain head bands last year and having been meaning to do something with them for a long time now. Today I found the inspiration to do something and this is what I came up with. As usual I can't just make one of anything I always have to do more. I will be doing some more different ones over the next few days. I wrapped the bands with strips of fabric and then stitched them firmly onto the band. Then I made embellishments and also hand sewed them on as well. No glue was used! More images on flick r

A pretty girlie birthday present

This afternoon I whipped up this little bag and clip holder to go with Lulu's friend's birthday present. When I mentioned to my sister Sas this morning we were going out to buy a present she rightly asked why I wasn't making something! So I decided to make a little tote and clip holder. Inside we put some goodies we had bought at Accessorize (fun girlie shop!) and there you have it!

I made the bag using gorgeous Kaffe Fassett fabric and antique linen for the exterior. A pretty cotton has been used to line the bag. The hair is made with felt, a crochet flower and a little embroidery.

Anybody for afternoon tea??

As my daughter Lulu is always busy playing with her kitchen, coming and taking our orders and feeding her teddies I decided to make her some felt toys. There are some fabulous patterns especially in the Japanese craft books. I bought a few patterns from Fairyfox on Etsy too.

In fact this pattern is one of hers. They are very easy to make once you figure things out. The only thing is I think the pretend cups of tea could be a little larger. Maybe down the track I'll remake them. I love the biscuits they're so realistic they just look like you could just take a bite! Once I finished all the pieces I bought a balsa wood box, covered and lined it with felt, decorated it so now it is the perfect biscuit box! I have a few more patterns to make up which I'll slowly get round to. I've also made up 9 blocks for a new quilt so stay tuned! More images on flickr.
